If u like both the Labour Party and the Green Party but don’t know who to vote for go to http://voteswap.org and see what kind of constituency you live in and how your vote could best be used in order to stop another conservative government. I live in a safe conservative seat and wasn’t sure how I should vote but this website helped give me a clearer idea of what I should do so yeah just check it out

oh yea: the dental surgeon informed me that if u smoke weed regularly u should always tell the anaesthesiologist before ur surgery, because it’s possible that u could wake up during surgery due to them giving u the dosage they would give someone who doesn’t smoke weed.

so don’t lie, they aren’t cops, they just want to make sure ur good for the duration of the surgery. i didn’t know this for my colonoscopy but i wasn’t smoking regularly then so it wasn’t relevant. just a psa

Its Tru. I have woken up during anaesthesia and it is not fun u will not like it

What does UKIP do that makes it so bad?

feelingsandfeminism:

They’re incredibly racist.

They’re also incredibly sexist

They are homophobic and transphobic:

They are ableist:

Other things:

  • They want to legalise handguns (why? why??? this makes no sense? The UK has had hardly any gun crimes since our anti-gun legislation, why would you want to change that?!)

Tbh there’s probably a lot more but looking at all these things makes me feel really gross and I want to stop researching this racist piece of shit political party now. Feel free to add more if you find them!!

NOTE: Some of the policies mentioned in the articles I found them from had links but when I clicked them they had ‘page not found’, meaning they’ve been taken down and I couldn’t find them elsewhere so I’m a bit baffled….

Social skills: noticing when repetition is communication

realsocialskills:

So there’s this dynamic:

Autistic person: The door is open!

Other person: I *know* that. It’s hot in here.

Autistic person: The door is open!

Other person: I already explained to you that it’s hot in here!

Autistic person: The door is open!

Other person: Why do you have to repeat things all the time?!

Often when this happens, what’s really going on is that the autistic person is trying to communicate something, and they’re not being understood. The other person things that they are understanding and responding, and that the autistic person is just repeating the same thing over and over either for no reason or because they are being stubborn and inflexible and obnoxious and pushy.

When what’s really happening is that the autistic person is not being understood, and they are communicating using the words they have. There’s a NT social expectation that if people aren’t being understood, they should change their words and explain things differently. Sometimes autistic people aren’t capable of doing this without help.

So, if this is happening, assume it’s communication and try to figure out what’s being communicated. If you’re the one with more words, and you want the communication to happen in words, then you have to provide words that make communication possible. For example:

Other person: Do you want the door to be closed, or are you saying something else?

Autistic person: Something else

Other person: Do you want to show me something outside, or something else?

Autistic person: Something else

Other person: Are you worried about something that might happen, or something else?

Autistic person: Worried

Other person: Are you worried that something will come in, or that something will go out?

Autistic person: Baby

Other person: She’s in her crib, and the baby gate is up. Is that ok, or is there still a problem?

Autistic person: ok

ok so reminder that autism is

  • a developmental disorder
  • a broad spectrum of different symptoms and traits
  • found in people of all races, genders, sexualities, ages, etc
  • becoming more commonly diagnosed due to increased knowledge

it is not

  • a disease
  • “cureable”
  • only present in young white boys
  • caused by vaccines
  • the boogeyman

Imagine being 11 years old and you are already an academy award nominated actress with a successful career but people don’t even make an effort to learn how to pronounce your name, in fact they put more effort into making jokes about mispronouncing it. Everyone is trash.

in a healthy, close relationship of any kind, when something upsets you, you need to bring it up. as soon as possible, even. cultivate an environment in which you both can talk about things that upset you, with the utmost attention to everyone’s feelings. it’s a really simple thing to do but it’s a thing i’ve been working on for a while and i’m getting actual nice things happening as a result

Of all my posts to go super big I’m glad it was this one

Leelah Alcorn was a 17 year old transgender woman artist. She grew up in a very religious Christian family. When she came out as trangender to her parents they told her it was a phase and sent her to therapy. The therapies they sent her to were religious ones that told her things like god makes no mistakes, told her she was selfish, and that the only way to cure depression was to follow gods path. She came out as “gay” at school so people wouldn’t be as shocked when she came out as trans. Her friends were accepting but her parents called her an embarrassment. They took away all electronics for 5 months and kicked her out of public school.

She was an artist. he drawing above was drawn by her.

She committed suicide on December 29th due to the transphobia caused by her family. Please remember her and the other transgender people how lose their lives to transphobia.

Link to her tumblr (warning that it contains her suicide note and sensitive materiel)

What happened in Austrailia?

alltheloveicouldfind:

umbrellabrat-deactivated2015070:

in Martin Place, which is within the CBD of Sydney, there is currently a hostage situation taking place in a lindt chocolate cafe. It has occurred since 9:45AM and is still underway. It is currently 2:45PM.

All I know myself so far is this:

  • There is around 13-50 people being held hostage within this cafe, customers and staff.
  • There is at least one gunman (possible two) controlling the situation inside. Police are on the scene outside.
  • The Sydney Opera House and areas around Martin Place have been shut down and evacuated.
  • The motivations behind the people being held hostage has not been confirmed and is unknown, as is why the Sydney Opera House is currently being evacuated.
  • The hostages being held against the window with a flag; it is not an Islamic State flag.
  • There are fears bombs are throughout the city.
  • Sydney Harbour Bridge is down, buses and trains re-routed.

I’m really sorry I can’t say any more as there’s a lot of false information being carried around but I’ll be reblogging a lot to do with the situation as it happens to keep you all informed. Its hard to trust the media as its very opinionated.

I’m terrified. I just got a call from my friend and she’s okay and she’s trying to safely get to my house. Both she and I work in the city very close to Martin Place.

I’m praying for their safety.

This is literally all we know right now. Others on tumblr need to stop spreading misinformation
